Racetracks, bingo cards and lottery tickets are all the things we picture when we think about gambling. Nowadays however the faces of gambling have changed and sometimes we come across unbelievable gambling practices. We have collected the most strange and unbelievable gambling practices here for you to read and react.
Belgians are not strange people at all but there is one gambling practice that sort of falls out of the ordinary into the unbelievable gambling sort of cabinet. This gambling practice is called bird singing. Birds are kept in a cage separately of course and the bird who manages to sing with the highest pitch for the longest time wins the bet. We wonder how they make the birds sing in the first place, but it is a popular and unbelievable gambling practice in Belgium.
Another unbelievable gambling form can be found all across Europe and Russia and this practice is called cockroach racing. This unbelievable gambling practice has developed so far that the leagues are divided into length and weight of the cockroach. Races are done in private homes mostly to give them a feel of illegal gambling, but they are mostly legal. Wagers are placed on cockroaches just the same way as they are on horses in horse races.
A rather hilarious yet unbelievable gambling practice is home in Belize where people love to play the only Chicken Dump gamble in the world. The Chicken Dump is being played in the town of San Pedro and here you have to draw from a jar of different numbers and pay your wager. Numbers are at random number and of two digits. The playing ground is a little field with the tiles of the available numbers spread out in no particular order to form a quadrant. It is in this quadrant where the chicken will be thrown in and the crowd will wait until it takes a dump. The number the feces lands on is the winning number.
The last unbelievable gambling practice is popular in the Southeast Asian region and it is called spider fights. Any type of spider is used for this gambling method and both spiders are set on a thin wooden stick. The spiders will fight each other until the first one falls down. The one that falls down is the spider that lost the gamble. The spiders usually never die, or even fight at all, they sometimes just crawl on top of each other, but the main attraction is in the balance of the spider.
There are probably more unbelievable gambling practices out there for us to find, but these ones above are already pretty special.
